Former Statesman reporter vying for ERS board
Many loyal followers of Public Capital during its golden years are probably suffering from some Bob Elder withdrawal.
Now, they can get their fill here of the former Austin American-Statesman reporter and this blog’s founder.
A state employee for almost a year, Elder has applied to fill a vacancy on the Employees Retirement System of Texas board and has launched the blog as part of his campaign.
The board will pick the replacement for Don Green, who retired earlier this year.
Mary Jane Wardlow, an ERS spokeswoman, said she did not know who else filed for the open spot. The plan is to have someone in place by November.

I don’t think he can adequately represent current employees and retirees if he has only worked one year. Just because he writes a good news story, it does not qualify him for the ERS board. A board member should be someone who understands fully what state employees experience when salaries and benefits are at the mercy of the legislature. As a retired state employee, he would not get my vote.

Express, I surely hope you didn’t work in public education or if you did, I am surely glad you are retired, since you can’t construct a sentence correctly.

By anonymous , this is not literature class, it is a blog-comment. Nobody cares about spelling or grammer. It is all about content.

Correct spelling, sentence construction, and punctuation should always count, Carlos. As to the qualifications of this particular candidate for this particular position, this article doesn’t elaborate on those qualifications. From what I can tell, trained chimpanzees would be more appropriate for many political appointments.
