Bush, Calderon defend NAFTA

President Bush on Tuesday said that the North American Free Trade Agreement was a “visionary move by previous leaders” and has tripled trade between the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“Now is not the time to renegotiate NAFTA or walk away from NAFTA. Now is the time to make it work better for all our people. And now is the time to reduce trade barriers worldwide,” Bush said.

The president made the remarks at a press conference in New Orleans with the leaders of Canada and Mexico.

Bush also urged Congress to pass a free trade agreement with Colombia. He accused opponents of “protectionism.”

“I’m concerned about protectionism in America. It’s not in our interest to become a protectionist nation,” he said.

In addition, Mexican President Felipe Calderon said that the economies of Canada, Mexico and the United States are bigger and stronger than they were 14 years ago, before NAFTA.

“We are doing everything we can in order to create job opportunities in Mexico for people so that Mexicans will not need to seek job opportunities outside their country. And the only way to do it is by creating jobs in Mexico. And the only way is precisely multiplying our possibilities of trade,” Calderon said.

Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have talked about the need to re-negotiate NAFTA, amid fears that it has hurt U.S. workers.

[‘“I’m concerned about protectionism in America. It’s not in our interest to become a protectionist nation,” he said.’]
Patriotic American Citizens who’re in opposition to his globalism & open border policy’s are called protectionist’s & vigilante’s. Bummer Mr. President, it’s better to be called a patriotic protectionist or vigilante than to be a treasonous rat Mr. President.

[‘Mexican President Felipe Calderon said “We are doing everything we can in order to create job opportunities in Mexico for people so that Mexicans will not need to seek job opportunities outside their country. And the only way to do it is by creating jobs in Mexico.’] El Presidente seeks to improve conditions in his pathetic country by bankrupting our USA. Look at all economic information & there’s all doom ‘n gloom. World wide food shortages & big banks collapsing threaten American Citizens who’re already struggling under the burden of rising prices. All of that’s not leaving us with anything to spare for bailing our El Presidete’s corrupt Mexico & the rest of the 3rd world

One major problem is, we are becoming a 3rd world country. Look what is happening to education. No it’s not the fault of “bad” teachers. The teachers today are the most highly educated there has ever been. No it’s not the fault of the curriculum. The curriculum is the best there ever was. It is that we are required by law to lower our teaching and learning levels so “illegal” aliens can pass the standardized test. We have taken on the responsibility of educating people from another country who aren’t even our citizens. We have changed our laws and standards of life to suit these people. Yet they aren’t even Americans. They have more rights than we have. We can’t expel them from school for committing crimes against our “legal” kids because they may seem we are prejudiced. We need to look out for ourselves first, and send these people back to their own country to picket, march or whatever against their own government.
