Fewer immigrants sending money to Latin America

Fewer immigrants from Latin America are regularly sending money to their home countries because of the slumping U.S. economy and a growing “anti-immigrant” climate, a survey released Wednesday found.

As a consequence, millions of poor families in Latin America will not get the vital help that the money provides, the survey by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) concluded.

The survey found that half of immigrants — both legal and illegal — were sending money regularly back to their home countries in Latin America this year, compared to 73 percent in 2006.

Despite the drop, the total amount of the remittances is projected to stay roughly level over the same time period, at around $45 billion, because the average amount of each remittance has increased and there are more Latin Americans in the United States, the survey found.

Sergio Bendixen, a veteran pollster whose Miami-based company carried out the survey, said that a growing “anti-immigrant” sentiment in the United States is a major cause for the drop in number of immigrants sending money back home.

He cited state laws and local ordinances that have cracked down on illegal immigration such as the one in Hazleton, Pa., that he said created a climate of fear in which immigrants have felt insecure about their futures and are therefore more hesitant to send money home.

“They feel that they are not welcome in America anymore,” Bendixen said. “They don’t know whether they will be able to work next month or whether they will to be able to rent an apartment … so many become conservative about how they spend their money.”

States like Pennsylvania, where such ordinances have been passed, saw significant declines in remittances, the survey found.

Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, a think tank that supports lower levels of immigration, said that Latin American governments should stop looking at exporting their labor force as a source of development income.

In addition, he said that the survey shows that the anti-illegal immigration ordinances are working.

“The goal of enforcement is to get illegal immigrants to change their behavior,” he said. “It’s to change the climate so that illegal immigrants get the message that the party is over and they need to go home.”

AMERICA is not without poverty, so why are we importing more. We have single Mothers with children, many homeless including a large number of veterans. So why do the taxpayers support the 12 to 30 million illegal aliens squatting in our nation? Until we eradicate our own poverty, we should pay attention to the poor, unsilled workers of our country. Like I always said, ‘we cannot subsidise the worlds poor’ They will have to look towards their own government?

The only immigration reform is the Democrats stop trying to gut this enforcement only law and sponsor it. Most of these leading Democrats are doing everything they can to drail this Federal legislation. No Comprehensive reform! No path to citizenship, unless you leave and return through the front door.

They don’t like the Federal SAVE ACT(H.R. 4088) because it would disenfranchise all the potential 12 to 30 million illegal alien votes. The SAVE ACT will force illegal aliens to self-deport or as its called ‘ATTRITION.” Can’t get a job, because predator employers will be hunted down; heavily fined or go to prison.

This is comprehensive reform?

Illegal immigration all encompassing your Jobs and economic growth, energy independence, health care access, education and an overcrowded prison system. All these issues are impacted by the 12 to 30 million illegal immigration invasion. Predator employers would rather hire an illegal worker, than YOU? No workers compensation to pay, no health care and a miserable low wage. Without any compunction, pariah employers will dump their hired charges on hospital steps; then you the taxpayer covers th cost.

America’s economy is heading south, yet so many people think the answer to this is to not only give amnesty and work rights to illegal immigrants already here, but to bring in even more. ?????? If businesses and special interest groups (e.g. - NCLR) continue to shape immigration policy, then the US and Mexico will indeed be equals very soon…we will both be impoverished nations. Canada, start building a wall now, before it is too late for you, too.

In Arizona, illegal aliens plea to sheriff is “Send us home to Mexico” Link - http://bordercontrol.blogspot.com/
On a recent afternoon, four illegal immigrants asked the Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for a ride back home to Mexico, say department officials.

The four were located in the Aguila area west of Phoenix and were seeking work. They admitted they were in the country illegally and after being unable to find work, they wanted a return ride to Mexico.

The illegal aliens were processed by the county sheriff’s office human smuggling unit and then they were turned over to ICE. ICE finally granted their request and sent them home to Mexico.

The county sheriff’s office says that in the past, Aguila area residents have sought the department’s help because of “problems related to illegal immigration.”

Why do they keep saying “anti-immigration” sentiment in America. It isn’t “legal” immigration we oppose, it is “illegal” immigration and the fact we are being taken advantage of so badly.

Patriots, please bring your American flags & come to the Capitol today at 4:30 to protest the ILLEGALS & their supporters marching in our streets again for “amnesty, equal rights & legalization!” They deserve NOTHING and their only right in our country is DEPORTATION!

Call your local, state & Federal representatives and tell them it is their duty to ENFORCE THE LAW and DEPORT THEM ALL!

What’s so amazing is that we have so many poor citizens here, yet we think we have to take care of all the other poor, and at the expense of our own. Give the jobs to our poor, or to our people on work release programs, whatever, but take care of our own first.

Amanda….if we give Tx, Az, Ca and NM back to the Mexicans will they in turn give it back to Spain. After all Mexico was only a country for 20 yrs when they lost Tx,Az,Ca&NM, but Spain owned the area for three hundred years. Then of course to be politically correct Spain would give it back to the Native Americans they stole it from.

Sending money back to their country for their family is very normal. If businesses and special interest groups (e.g. - NCLR) continue to shape immigration policy, then the US and Mexico or other country will indeed be equal. Accordingly, All issues about the illegal immigration from different areas of economic including different types jobs, health care access, education & etc. are impacted by the 12 to 30 million illegal immigration invasion.

This article highlights your post, Larry. It displays hint of dissent that exposes a great weakness in the racist reconquista movement.

Edward James Olmos

Eddie Olmos has made his career out of playing people of Mexican descent. He is a self-hating person of “Mexican” descent who is a traitor to our ancestors and to the millions of our people that were slaughtered and whose culture was destroyed by the European Spaniards.

David Standard wrote in AMERICAN HOLOCAUST: “…Genocide is the coordinated and planned annihilation of a national [Mexican]… or racial [Indigenous people] group by a variety of actions aimed at undermining the foundations essential to the survival of the group as a group [Mexicans]. [Raphael] Lemkin’s definition included attacks on political and social institutions, culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of the group. Even non-lethal acts that undermined the liberty, dignity, and personal security of members of a group constituted genocide if they contributed to weakening the viability of the group [our survival as an Indigenous Mexican people] . Under Lemkin’s definition, acts of ethnocide… also qualified as genocide.”

These are EDWARD JAMES OLMOS’ racist and genocidal crimes:

Here’s a racist spokesmouth for pre-Illegal Alien cultists redefining Illegal Aliens…

Mexica Movement: NOT Hispanic! NOT Latino!
Link - http://www.mexica-movement.org/
Mexica Movement:
We are Nican Tlaca, the Indigenous People of Canada, U.S., Mexico, and “Central America”.

We reject all European divisions of our continent.

We reject the artificial border divisions of our people.

We reject the White Supremacist ideology that claims Europeans are permanently endowed with the right to define us and classify us to their liking.

We include “First Nation” and “Native American”

and “South American” Nican Tlaca (Indigenous People).

We say, “No to occupation!”

We say, “This is still our continent!” We say, “Europeans are the illegals—since 1492!”

The immigrants would continue to remit money to their native lands but as the recession fears grow it could mean that the immigrants would find it difficult to make the both ends meet. In countries like Philippines and Mexico the problem has already intensified. Despite the claims made by the US government, there is still a sense of fear and anxiety.

[‘Despite the claims made by the US government, there is still a sense of fear and anxiety.’]
Illegal Aliens returning to their pathetic 3rd world homelands would ease the fear & anxiety of American Immigrants. It’s those corrupt 3rd world republics that are creating the growing problem of Illegal Aliens by denying their poor citizens basic human rights. Yet pathetic Illegal Alien criminals demand the very same rights from our USA. Is it because they’re too lazy or gutless too fight for those basic human rights, back in their own backyard & our politically correct FedGov is too cowardly to deny rewarding Illegal Aliens for their criminal activities?
