Border mayors sue to stop border fence in Texas

Mayors from several Texas border cities filed a class action lawsuit Friday against Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to stop the building of a border fence along the Rio Grande.

The lawsuit alleges that Chertoff violated the rights of land owners along the border by failing to negotiate a “reasonable” price to gain access to their property, a requirement mandated by law.

It also said that Chertoff gave preference to politically connected land owners from having to turn over their property to build the fence while coercing others to sign waivers.

“We will not sit idly by while our property is seized by the federal government to build an expedient, but useless, expensive and potentially damaging wall across the Texas-Mexico border,” said Chad Foster, mayor of Eagle Pass, Texas.

The Department of Homeland Security said the accusations are false.

“We’ve nearly bent over backward to work with landowners. Accusations to the contrary are either ill-informed or just plain wrong,” said Laura Keehner, a spokeswoman for the agency.

Foster is the chairman of the Texas Border Coalition, a group of mayors and business leaders who have joined forces to oppose the border fence.

It might be helpful to note that the lead attorney in the case has at least four links to the Mexican government. The latest link is discussed here:

I have yet to see an MSM reporter ask him about his series of links and try to find out how much money he’s gotten from them, buy maybe this site could start a trend.

Border towns in Texas appear quite active in assisting Drug smuggling of people and drugs across the Texas/United States border. It’s a regular and frequent topic in Texas with people/County and State Officials constantly being investigated and/or arrested.

It’s not just the border towns. It also involves the many towns along the IH35 corridor running from Texas/Mexico border all the way north through Texas heading North to Chicago,Ill. The immigration problem has very little to do agricultural workers in Texas. The problem is about assisting immigrants, illegal aliens from many countries(not just Mexico)as they conduct illegal, criminal activities across our borders, making many people apparently wealthy as they foster the theft of people (slave trade)and drugs into our nation and provide a slippery corridor for terrorists wishing to gain easy access into the United States.

We must applaud the work of the Texas Militia in apprehending criminals and turning them over to proper authorities much better than ICE had previously been accomplishing on their own.

Quit talking about the problem and follow the example of the “Minutemen”, by getting off your duffs and taking action by completing the fence. Its my understanding that the Minutemen have built and paid for the majority of the existing fence, anyway, through the voluntary donations of U.S. citizens from all across the U.S.A.
