Guard's 19,000th

The state Army National Guard tomorrow will celebrate a Texas-sized milestone: Its 19,000th recruit.

Soldiers and their families are slated to take part in an historic signing ceremony at Austin’s Camp Mabry.

Of note: Texas has the largest troop force in the nation. The Texas Army National Guard is developing three new units — a Special Forces Unit, 294th Quartermaster (Riggers) Unit and Long Range Surveillance Unit.
