This is so disappointing to hear. My children have attended Kids College for the last 2 years and they have always had a good time and the director and staff were great with the kids. We have been looking for reasonable activities for our kids to do this Summer and I guess we will have to mark this option off our list. Gosh, The Y is going to be packed!

So sad that this wonderful program had to come to an end. The opportunities that it provided for children of the area were vast and varied but wonderful for those who wanted to do something other than veg all summer.

My daughter attended Kids College for three years and she throughly enjoyed every activity. The staff was wonderful and dedicated especially those involved in organizing the theater camp production. Those in the community who have intimate knowledge of the experience realize what our community is loosing with this anouncement.

In reference to my opinon letter of May 30. After reading about the cancellation of the Kids College, I did a low ball estimate of travel costs for the 3 MCC teams that participated in tournaments in Florida and Alabama. Using Epedia.com, just airfare, hotel and rental vans for 39 players and coaches came to roughly $44,000. This does not count for meals, tournament expenses or salarys for the coaches and trainers. In just two weeks the travel expenses for 26 players ( most are not from McLennan County), could pay for the Kids college for over 200 McLennan county kids for another year. The priorities of the MCC Board and President are not for the benifit of the McLennan County community.
