One of Waco’s Downtown elite is going to sing like a Canary to save her own hide. Margaret Mills will name NAMES in open court and will slam-damn Waco City Hall and the Greater Waco Chamber of Idiots to avoid the slammer. Larry Groth and air-head Mayor DuPuy are sweating bullets at Waco City Hall. This has been the summer of worry for greedy ones at the Greater Waco Chamber. More arrests and more indictments will follow. The Downtown Waco “chickens” (you too Babbit) have come home to roost. Karma’s bad-a$$ hammer of justice is coming down on Downtown Waco. Sit back folks and enjoy the entertainment. Vaughn and his sleeze-bags are going down and headed OUT.

As I posted in response to another one of your diatribes, Fred. The time to deal, or as you say, sing, is long past. The dealing and wheeling in front of Judge Johnson is past. This is not Perry Mason where people “sing” in open court. No one is sweating at City Hall unless the A/C is down. Dream on. Sucks to be you.

I do not believe that the trail should be moved out of Waco. First, Mrs. Mills committed a criminal act against the folks in Waco and not only once did this but for many years. Now it is their turn to look her in the eye and deal the justice that she deserves. Being well known is not a license to steal and walk away unschathed. I say try her hear and let her deal with the consequences of her actions.
If any of the City officials are in on this scheme, then they too should stand trial right here in town.
I believe the public is sick and tired of being scammed by every offical in public office that choses to line their own pockets with the tax payer dollars.

Given the declining interest in the local newspaper and television stations, it might not be too difficult to find jurors who do not even know who MM is. Still, the coverage has been prominent and there are quite a few individuals around the area who have have suffered from MM’s reluctance to pay for purchases and services.

Change of venue? Why? Waco, with all of its Democratic cronies still littering our political landscape, is one of the few places where she has the potential of a sympathetic jury.

Regardless of what Margaret Mills has done she is still old Waco money - connected to old Waco money. She is still considered the “ELITE”. If her trial stays in Waco - she will get no more than a slap on the wrist - her husband is connected in more ways than one to every attorney and judge in this town. If the trial stays here - she will get more than a fair trial - it will be the people of Waco that get an unfair trial. If you stop and think about it her attorney seems to be working against her - if you move this trial to another town where Margaret Mills is just another thief who stole money from the hardworking citizens of this town to support a lavish lifestyle, then put on the stand the dozens of people she still owes money too, wrote hot checks to and outright stole from while all of this was going on - they will throw the book at her. I say move the trial - let her stand on her own for a while without her highpowered friends to back her up……

I wonder what has happened to all of the comments submitted prior to “Mike” on July 19? Surely an organization that exists because of the First Amendment has not chosen to restrict our rights to free speech. Or has the Mills clan gotten to you, Waco Trib?

BoogerHook: We don’t generally delete comments. You’ve met Fred, right?
I believe you’re probably referring to comments on our breaking news blog, Waco NOW. They exist separately from comments on our daily print-originated stories.
You’ll probably find what you’re looking for by clicking here. (There was also one comment on Tuesday’s story, available in the story list on the right side of this page.)
Thanks for reading.

Trib Staff: You’re right. I am wrong. I apologize for jumping to conclusions and blaming others for my mistake. Thanx for straightening me out. I’ll get on top of that.
Yes, I figured if you didn’t screen out Fred, you certainly wouldn’t pull my comments………..;-)

There’s not a doubt in my mind that Margaret screwed up royally and IS screwed up royally. Hers are not the actions of a woman in full possession of her mental faculties. What she needs is help from mental health professionals NOT a lengthy prison term. She’s already ruined as far as any quality of life goes in this unforgiving town. Kind of makes you wonder about all the so called christians that are in on Margaret’s lynch mob. I say give her 10 years probation, make her seek psychiatric help, have her tie a rag around her exquisite coiff and shovel some poop at the zoo, make restitution by whatever legal means possible, and never ever let her near a credit card or checkbook again as long as she lives. The withdrawal from her shopping addiction alone will probably kill her. Putting her in the slammer will only cost the taxpayers about 40K a year for the rest of her life so let’s do the math…she embezzeled about a half a mill…and let’s say she gets 10 years at 40k a year and with adjustments for inflation I’d say the total bill will top out at around a cool million bucks. Locking up Margaret is just throwing good money after bad.

Makes you wonder how long the ole boy will stand by her side seeing how she has made him the laughing stock of Waco. You know he just wants to b*tch slap her. Of course she might have so much on him he has no choice but to stick with her to the bitter end.

She should have a jury of her peers, that means keeping her right here in Waco where she committed the crime.

This women should NOT get any special treatment what-so-ever! Because of her being married to a longtime Waco lawyer, having money and access to more lawyer money (friends or her own), her previous position and contacts in Waco now that seem very embrassing to many … she’s already being treated more favorably that John Doe off the street … certainly more so that a minority person or where wealth is a factor. NO MORE SPECIAL TREATMENT … AND KEEP THE TRIAL IN WACO - WHERE HER POSSIBLE ACTIONS HAD THEIR GREATEST EFFECT.

She shouldn’t get any special treatment! If anything, it should be worse. She was trusted to help revitalize downtown Waco. It seems like it is doing better now that she is gone. She should go to prison just like a regular citizen of Waco would. She isn’t any better than anyone else. In fact, she is worse. A wolf in sheeps clothing.

To Wake Up Waco, think about a few other things. Margaret Mills and her husband have worked in politics all over the state. It wouldn’t be that difficult for her attorneys to agree to a out of county judge who is friendly to Mills with the Assistant AG over the case being any the wiser that the judge is a “friendly” judge to Mills.
Yes, the judges her in Waco could be just as “friendly”, but these judges will still have to answer to Waco voters, where an out of county judge doesn’t.
Keep the Mills trial here.

She is a thief and should be treated no different than any other criminal, it should stay right here in Waco, she stole from Waco and she should be tried and convicted in Waco.

I think she shoud have her trial here since she stole the money from here. It’s bad enough that she is out walking and not at Hwy 6 with the others that have stole lesser then her and don’t get a bond or a walk through. she needs to be treated like the other criminals and put behind bars.

When are we going to seek/obtain restitution from the Board of Oafs…whoops, Directors and the insurance company that covered the organization?
