Gas Wells in Corridor Path

gasmapttcsized.jpg

Gas wells are on the list of environmental items considered in the DEIS. Without a handy map, however, it’s hard to visualize exactly what’s at stake in East Texas, where gas wells are a common sight.

Philip Sovinsky has prepared this interesting overlap map, plotting the locations of Nacogdoches county gas wells over the proposed route of the TTC.

It looks like there are about 13 wells in the path of the preferred corridor east of the city of Nacogdoches. It’s hard to tell if this is all the wells for sure or if the map is aligned exactly right, but it sure does present an interesting visual for a probably under-imagined consequence of building a new highway.

Thanks, Philip.

The TTC is nothing more than a land grab. I oppose NO ACTION on this matter. Should this highway be considered, regardless of which side of the county it is routed, our family will loose land that belonged to our forefathers. There is a highway 59. Use it, widen it, and go on with life. Do not try to make a corridor from South America to Canada at our expense. Thanks

I strongly oppose the corridor. This corridor will not help me or my family. One direction of this corridor makes me homeless, the other makes my East Texas brothers and sisters homeless. Both are unexceptable. This is all about the bottom line for some already rich group. When are those who are elected to represent us going to do what they are elected to do. We (the general public) want these people kept out of our Great Country. We are being sold down the river by the people we elected to represent us. When are we going to have enough as a people and demand that our elected officials represent our interest. Let these countries do it for themselves and let us again grow strong as the United States of America. So says WE THE PEOPLE, REMEMBER THAT ONE.

There is also some 15 cemeteries or more in this path that would have to be moved. Where are they going to get new land to move the remains and how are they going to move them. Most have people going back to late 1700 or early 1800. Texas is suppose to protect cemeteries?????
