Hanrahan wins in his sleep
Have you ever heard the saying, “I could do that in my sleep?”
Well pitcher Joel Hanrahan proved on Thursday that he can win a game while sleeping. In a completion of a game from May 5 that began in Washington D.C., the Washington Nationals defeated the Houston Astros 11-10 in 11 innings.
The winning pitcher of the game was Hanrahan, who is now a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In an interview on “Baseball Tonight,” Hanrahan said he was actually taken a nap during today’s completion of the game.
Another twist is that Nyjer Morgan, who the Nationals received in the trade for Hanrahan and was on the Pirates when the game began.
In my opinion, he shouldn’t have been allowed to play. But if Miguel Tejada wouldn’t have made a throwing error, Morgan wouldn’t have scored from second base.
After the Nationals took that game, the Astros used a four-run sixth inning and a three-run eighth to take a 9-4 win over Washington and have now won four out of five games.
The Astros are only four games back from first place and if they are smart and get some pitching, they could make a run. But when was the last time the Astros made a smart move?
