Phil Mahar resigns as NISD trustee

Before any action was taken at Thursday night’s Nacogdoches ISD board meeting, Trustee Phil Mahar submitted his resignation as a member of the school board due to the fact that his family purchased a home which is inside the school district, but outside the district in which he was elected to serve — District IV.

In reading this article janet Clark said that 77% of the senior class will graduate and small group doesn’t stand a chance of graduating in May. Does this mean that NISD has given up on these kids?

Of course not Chuck. There are many great teachers in our system who want students to learn (main goal) and graduate. But there has to be a factual recognition that some will not graduate due to lack of credits earned. This may be due to many various reasons. What a horrendous leap to conclusion you made.

When the very person that is supposed to believe in them says that there is little hope how in the world do we expect them to believe in themselves?!?! Im embarrassed to live in this town!

Then leave ….how in the world do you take such a simple statement and exaggerate it to such a degree? If a student doesn’t have enough credits to graduate in May, then “beleiving” in him won’t make them magically appear. It doesn’t imply that they will never gaduate. Sheesh!!!

My comment has to do with Phil Mahar s resignation. he has been living outside the district for some time, yet he takes this meeting to say that he is resigning because his family bought a house in an area outside the area he represented, WHy did he not resign when he moved from the area he represented?
