Chamber in the Pines

image_8619256.jpg

I had the opportunity to hear a small sampling of this performance series on Monday, just prior to my interview with the festival’s artistic director Jennifer Dalmas, and I found it quite engaging. The series features four chamber music concerts on different musical movements, the first of which is at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Aug. 8 at the Cole Concert Hall of the SFA music building. It will feature three pieces from the romantic period, one of which includes a piano performance by the new School of Music Director John Robert. Subsequent concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11 and Aug. 14 and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 16. The first and last concert will feature a reception immediately following the performances in the performance hall lobby. Tickets are $10 for individual concerts and $30 for all four.
