With the possibility of enjoying detoxifying herbal wraps, hot stone massages and customized facials, a day at the spa is one of the most lavish ways to relax.
But, don't think you have to travel all the way to Dallas or Houston to enjoy a day of tranquil treatments. There are a number of salons and medical spas in the area that offer unique and specialized ways to beautify in a peaceful place. Here's a look at a few of them.

Julia's Salon
While the first level of this beauty shop is a fast-paced hair salon, upstairs, patrons find themselves in a serene sanctuary for body wraps, facials and therapeutic massage.
Among some of the salon's most popular treatments is the hot stone massage, which utilizes heated, flat stones to relax muscle tissues. Facials are also a common spa treatment at Julia's, as the salon offers a wide variety to accommodate the skin needs of each client. Facials range from tri-algae to rosacea. Unique to her salon, Julia Friel, the owner, includes a complimentary facial with each microdermabrasion procedure. She says following the procedure, which exfoliates the skin, anything placed on the skin will quickly absorb, and so, "it's the perfect time to do a facial."
In addition to facials and wraps, the salon offers hand and foot reflexology, manicures and pedicures, waxing and eyebrow and eyelash tinting.

Maricela's Day Spa
A full day at this spa won't cost you an arm and a leg. In fact, owner Maricela Doss estimates it can be done for as little as $100.
She explains that a full day at her spa includes any four services, which can range from manicures and facials to the more expensive massages and detoxifying body wraps. And, with the right combination, it's easy to enjoy a low-budget spa day, she says. In addition to the services, the full day at the spa includes a complimentary lunch and a private dressing room. Cappuccinos and smoothies are also offered at the spa. Maricela says she can accommodate up to three people at a time for the full day of service, which typically takes between four and five hours. In addition, the spa offers individualized service for body waxing, body wraps, manicures and pedicures, as well as massages and facials. One of the more popular of the salon services is the detoxifying herbal body wrap, in which an individual is wrapped in hot bandages filled with herbs and then in plastic wrap for an hour. Maricela says the herbs detoxify the skin, releasing the impurities in the body.
"It's incredible," she says, adding that the detoxification process has been known to slenderize. "You're wrapped in a cocoon, and then a massage therapist will come in and give you a neck and shoulder massage with your body wrap."

Nirvaana MediSpa
With an inhouse licensed aesthetician (skin care specialist), this medical spa customizes its treatments to an individual's particular needs.
Treatments range from acne and anti-aging treatments to rosacea, and the medical spa offers complimentary skin consultations to its clients.
In addition, clients can enjoy a range of other services from laser hair reduction, massages and facials to eyebrow threading and henna.
Owner Dr. Kavita Vyas says her medical spa is also equipped to handle small parties, such as a girls day or a teen birthday party.
The spa hosts its own party each month called Girls Night Out. Vyas says the event offers a local female speaker with wine and hors d'oeuvres. Women who attend the event are provided specialty discounts on products and treatments. Space is limited to the events, and Vyas said those who are interested in attending need to call to register.
