Golf Elbow

(HealthDayNews) -- Repeatedly swinging a golf club can lead to elbow tendonitis -- when tiny tears cause inflamed tendons.

If playing golf makes your elbow throb, tendonitis may be to blame.

The Mayo Clinic offers this advice:

  • Lay off golf until the pain eases. A snug forearm strap or splint may provide some relief.
  • Massage the area with ice for 5 to 8 minutes at a time, three or four times a day.
  • Strengthen the wrist and forearm muscles through gentle stretches or exercises.
  • Before you return to the fairway, ask a golf pro to show you the proper form. An improper technique may aggravate the problem.
