A man was killed on Oct. 31 in a wreck that occurred at 8:35 a.m. on FM 343, according to reports from the Department of Public Safety.

The man, Robert E. Truss, 76, of Nacogdoches, was driving southbound 12.6 miles north of Nacogdoches in a 2000 Chevrolet S10 when he left the road and struck a tree, DPS said.

Truss was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital where he died at 9:38 a.m., according to the report. His body was taken to Laird Funeral Home.

Trooper Keith Jones investigated the wreck. Truss was wearing his seatbelt, according to the report.

Criminal mischief, 3900 block of Red Oak Street. The side of a vehicle was spray painted.

Criminal mischief, 300 block of South Popp Street. Rocks were thrown at a vehicle, damaging it.

Assault, 1600 block of Cardinal Street. During a disturbance, one person assaulted another. An arrest warrant was requested.

Burglary of a vehicle, 3400 block of East Main Street. A CD player was taken out of a vehicle by a known person, and a warrant was requested for them.

Assault, 1600 block of Cardinal Street. One person assaulted another during an argument. The person was gone before officers arrived, and a warrant was requested.

Burglary of a habitation, 3200 block of North Street. An apartment was forcibly entered and food was taken.

Assault. A deputy responded to a report of an assault at Memorial Hospital. The victim left the hospital when he discovered a deputy was on the way to investigate the incident.

On Monday morning, 215 inmates were housed in the Nacogdoches County jail. According to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the jail's maximum population is 292.
