A man was killed on Oct. 31 in a wreck that occurred at 8:35 a.m. on FM 343, according to reports from the Department of Public Safety.
The man, Robert E. Truss, 76, of Nacogdoches, was driving southbound 12.6 miles north of Nacogdoches in a 2000 Chevrolet S10 when he left the road and struck a tree, DPS said.
Truss was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital where he died at 9:38 a.m., according to the report. His body was taken to Laird Funeral Home.
Trooper Keith Jones investigated the wreck. Truss was wearing his seatbelt, according to the report.

Assault. A deputy responded to a report of an assault at Memorial Hospital. The victim left the hospital when he discovered a deputy was on the way to investigate the incident.

On Monday morning, 215 inmates were housed in the Nacogdoches County jail. According to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the jail's maximum population is 292.
