The first quarter pretty much summed up how the District 14-4A campaign went for the Nacogdoches Dragons.
Courtney Patton threw two interceptions and a John Theiss punt was blocked as Kilgore racked up a 24-0 first quarter lead on the way to a 48-28 win over Nacodoches in the high school football regular season finale Friday night at Dragon Stadium.

Kilgore sophomore Ladarius Anthony rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries to lead the Bulldogs to 316 rushing yards.
The Dragons had 338 yards of total offense, led by Patton, who threw for 229 yards on 13-of-24 passing, with a touchdown and two interceptions. He also ran for 45 yards and a score on 11 carries.
Nacogdoches (3-7, 0-5) got on the board with 10 minutes left to go in the first half on a 15-yard run by Jerimichael Smith to cut the deficit to 24-7. Ryan Bustin hit a 42-yard field goal with 32 seconds left in the half to give the Bulldogs a 27-7 lead. Bustin also nailed a 40-yarder.
Anthony scored from 2 yards out to push the Kilgore lead to 34-7 early in the first half.
Patton rallied the Dragons pack, though, with an 11-yard scoring run and a 64-yard pass to Smith to make it 34-21. Anthony widened the gap again with a 70-yard touchdown run to make it 41-21.
An 87-yard punt return by Damien Leonard early in the fourth quarter cut it to 41-28, but Riley Toler found Robert Morgan for a 29-yard pass to put the lead back at 20 for Kilgore.
Kilgore put itself in shaky situations, with seven penalties for 45 yards in the fourth quarter, but the Dragons roughed the punter on a fourth down when the game was still 41-28 and more than five minutes to play.
With the win, Kilgore (5-5, 3-2) advanced to the Class 4A playoffs.
