16 taken to hospital after chemical spill
TOMBALL, Texas — As many as 16 people have been taken to a local hospital after a chemical spill at a local high school.
The Precinct 4 Constable Office told KHOU-TV on Friday morning those taken to the hospital were overcome by fumes. It wasn't immediately known if they were students at Tomball High School, a portion of which was evacuated.
A school district spokeswoman said a science teacher preparing an experiment for class spilled an undetermined chemical that prompted the evacuation. Students attending classes in rooms near the science lab were taken to the nearby football stadium.
The Tomball Fire Department Haz-Mat team was on the scene.
Tomball is a suburb north of Houston.
