Man arrested for shooting former girlfriend's dog

The Daily Sentinel

Friday, April 25, 2008

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, cruelty to animals and criminal mischief, CR 720. A man called up his former girlfriend's home making several threats, according to Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss. The man, Craig Steven Brown, 47, of 7070 South FM 225, went to his mother's home and picked up a firearm, saying he was going to go to his former girlfriend's home and 'take care of some business,' Kerss said. Brown's mother called 911 and told them Brown was on his way to his former girlfriend's home. Brown showed up at her home and shot her dog as deputies pulled up, and he fled into a wooded area, Kerss said.

"Officers cornered off the area and were able to take him into custody," Kerss said. "The only admission he made to officers was that the argument was over crack cocaine."
