Shelbyville man dies in rollover

A Shelbyville resident died in Shelby County when he was ejected from his vehicle at 2 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, according to Department of Public Safety officials. The man, Billy Frank Hyde, 41, was traveling northbound in a tractor truck past FM 2694 when he lost control and was thrown from the vehicle, DPS said. An occupant in the vehicle, Shirley Brewster, 41, of Stonewall was also injured, and she was taken to LSU Medical Hospital in Shreveport, according to DPS. The death inquest was preformed on scene by JP 2 O.B. Furlow, DPS said.

Theft, 4810 North St., Wal-Mart. Warrants were requested for two employees skip scanning merchandise.

Burglary of a habitation, 2800 block of Pearl Street. A home was entered, possibly with a key, and the interior was trashed and a cable box was stolen.

Theft, 2700 block of North Street. Bedding and towels were taken by a previous occupant of a hotel room.

———

Sexual assault. A woman said she was sexually assaulted outside of a club Friday night.

———

Assault, 900 block of Holly Oak Avenue. A woman was arrested for pushing another person.

———

Assault, 3200 block of Pearl Street. A person's nose was broken during a fight, and a warrant was requested for the other person.

———

Theft, 3800 block of North Stret. Cash was taken from a purse left unattended in the restroom.

Aggravated assault, 2700 block of Old Tyler Road. Officers responded to a disturbance with a gun. It was determined a woman there had threatened several people with a handgun and fired a round in the air, and she was arrested.

Burglary of a vehicle, Highway 7 West. An unlocked vehicle was entered by someone who attempted to remove a stereo. Unable to remove it, they took the radio faceplate and several CDs.

Burglary of a habitation, CR 803. Someone entered a home and took 15 video games and seven DVDs.

Criminal mischief, FM 343. A report of a reckless vehicle was made, followed by a report of criminal mischief on the same vehicle. The driver was located and was arrested. One of the two occupants of the vehicle was arrested and the other was given a citation.

SFA POLICE REPORT

Criminal trespass and possession of marijuana, Steen Hall. Officers stopped a man who was acting suspicious, and he was found in possession of two bags of marijuana. The man was also given a criminal trespass warning, because he was not a student.

Driving while intoxicated. A vehicle was seen traveling faster than the posted speed limit. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was found to be intoxicated, and was arrested.

Theft, Kerr Hall. A backpack left unattended was missing when the owner returned.

———

Two separate instances of criminal mischief, Lot 20. The driver side of two separate vehicles were scratched with unknown objects.

———

Theft, Public affairs office. A laptop computer was taken from the office.

Arrests included: Michael Clyde Barron, 17, Hwy. 7 West, No. 23, three warrants for burglary of a vehicle; John Richard Bird, 18, 371 Grady Road, Cushing, burglary of a vehicle; Detresse Dyshell Brown, 35, 3900 Old Bullard Road, bail jumping; Jerry L. Davis, 47, Tyler, warrants for criminal negligent homicide and bail jumping; Jeffery Thomas Harkey, 20, 385 CR 205, motion to revoke probation; George D. Hudso Jr., 34, 306 Dobbs Road, Garrison, possession of a controlled substance and hindering apprehension; William Hyde, 17, 331 CR 821, criminal mischief; Brandi Michelle Pickens, 30, Dayton, warrant for theft; Alexandra Perlot Tagas, 19, 5222 Northway Drive, No. 147, warrants for motion to revoke probation and driving while intoxicated; Casey Terna, 19, Frisco, possession of drug paraphernalia; Ladrick Tyrone Willis, 26, 804 Jordan St., No. 1101, parole warrant; Kristy M. Wynne, 28, Garrison, warrant for fictitious registration; and Angela Darnay Young, 21, assault/family violence.

JAIL POPULATION

On Wednesday morning, 227 inmates were housed in the Nacogdoches County jail. According to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the jail's maximum population is 292.
