Phone scam, FM 226. A woman said someone called her home and said she won $5,000 from a Wal-Mart drawing, but that the woman would have to send the caller a personal check for $300 to claim the prize.

Theft, 1100 block of North University Drive. Officers arrested Tammy Lynn Walters, 37, in the parking lot of JC Penney after store employees said she took a pair of shoes without paying. She was found in possession of the shoes and was arrested. Walters, of 550 CR 514, then told officers that her husband, Randy Wayne Hogan, 30, had arrest warrants. Officers found Hogan in the mall and arrested him after he was found to have two warrants.

Fraudulent use of identity. A woman said her Social Security number had been used in 2007 and 2008 by an unknown person.

Theft, 3200 block of Center Highway. A man said two men entered his store and stole bottles of oil and Pepsi. Officers identified one of the men on the video surveillance system.

Credit card abuse, 1400 block of Cardinal Street. A person said someone withdrew money from their checking and savings account.

Theft, 4800 block of North Street. A woman said someone took her purse and then tried to cash money orders in the purse. Police arrested Franklin Waters, Jr., 32, of 476 CR 122, in connection with the theft and found Taurus Nicole Nelson, 33, of 404 Lamar St., in Waters' vehicle. Officers found that Nelson was in possession of stolen money orders and credit cards from a different case. Both men were arrested.
