The pants may not fit, but the cuffs do

Resisting arrest and possession of marijuana, Lucas Street. Officers attempted to contact Luther Levann Jackson Jr., 22, of 321 Hasley St., for a pedestrian violation. Police said Jackson refused to obey police commands and attempted to run away but was unable because his baggy pants fell down. He threw a bag of marijuana over a fence before cooperating with the police, according to the report.

Theft, 5900 block of North Street. A woman received a call from someone she thought was her granddaughter. The woman said she needed $3,200 for vehicle repairs. The money was sent to Canada and the woman later discovered her granddaughter did not request or receive the money.

Burglary of a habitation, 3300 block of Old Tyler Road. A home was entered and an air conditioner was taken.

Aggravated assault, 1100 block of Oak Hill Plaza. A man came to a residence and assaulted the people there. He left and said he was going to return with a gun. The man returned and pushed a resident to the floor. The man left the residence before police arrived.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle and burglary of a habitation, 600 block of Woods Street. Someone entered a vehicle and took $300 from the console. The person also entered their home and took a gun.

Theft, 3800 block of North Street. A phone was taken while the owner was working.

Harassment, Stoddard Drive. A known person continues to send annoying text messages even after being asked not to.

Trash dumping, CR 803. Two trash bags were dumped on the side of the road.

Phone scam, FM 226. A person reported receiving a call that told them they had won $5,000 from a Wal-Mart drawing. They were told they had to call a number back to claim the pris and write a personal check for $300 to cover all delivery fees. The person who reported the scam did not fall for it, and the caller did not gain from it.

Criminal mischief, CR 612. The tires on a vehicle were slashed during the night.

Assault/family violence, CR 824. A deputy spoke with a woman in the hospital who said her husband had assaulted her.

Assault/family violence, FM 2864. A woman said her husband grabbed her arm and leg causing bruises. She also reported that he had hit her. A warrant was requested for him.

———

Theft, CR 521. A report was made of someone going through mailboxes. A deputy contacted the man and he was found in possession of mail that did not belong to him.

Arrests included: Bryant D. Gilyard, 40, 1101 Oak Hill Plaza, parole warrant; Sheneque Nicole Maxie, 23, 3413 E. Main St., No. 612, warrants for theft, release of surety, motion to revoke probation and failure to appear; Mark Alan McElroy, 37, 836 Ridgeview Drive, No. 305, public intoxication; Marquis Style Rand, 27, Houston, motion to revoke probation; and Albert Leon Smith, 60, 223 CR 824, warrant for assault.

JAIL POPULATION

On Tuesday morning, 203 inmates were housed in the Nacogdoches County jail. According to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the jail's maximum population is 292.

Anyone with information regarding a felony crime should call Crime Stoppers at 560-INFO. Callers with information leading to an arrest and grand jury indictment could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
