Hide-and-seek with women's accessories

Four counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, 1500 block of North Street. While patrolling the parking lot, police observed a man walking down the road carrying several purses. The man, upon noticing the officers, dropped the purses and fled on foot. Officers caught up with the subject and discovered a total of four vehicles he had broken into and a second individual hiding with two purses in one of the vehicles. Both suspects were arrested.

Possession of a controlled substance, 500 block of East Main Street. A man stopped for driving while intoxicated was fund to have outstanding city warrants and several prescription pills. The passenger was also found to have outstanding city warrants. Both individuals were arrested by police.

Assault, 700 block of Oak Hill Plaza. A woman said her child's father slapped her during an argument.

Burglary of a habitation, 3200 block of Pearl Street. A man said several pieces of furniture were taken from his condo over the weekend.

Theft, 300 block of East College Street. A man said someone in a black Lexus took college books.

———

Theft, 4800 block of North Street. A woman said someone stole her purse and took off running towards the building that used to house Goody's. The individual dropped the purse and it was recovered.

Theft of a person, 200 block of West Seale Street. A woman said she was walking down a wooded trail when she was attacked from behind by two individuals who forcibly removed her purse after knocking her down.

Criminal mischief, 1600 block of Cardinal Street. A woman said someone broke out all the windows and lights of a vehicle.

Burglary of a habitation, 1800 block of North Street. A man said someone forced their way into his apartment through a window and took several shoes, Polo shirts, a television set and a Sony PlayStation.

Assault, 200 block of Wettermark Street. A woman said her boyfriend assaulted her because she went out last night.

Evading arrest, 1700 block of E Starr Avenue. A man banged on the door to the apartment of his child's mother and when police arrived he ran, causing a chase to ensue. The man was not caught.

Theft, 200 block of CR 4942, Etoile. A woman said her step-daughter took a $4,000 diamond ring from her residence. The step-daughter was arrested.

Assault, 700 block of Spruce Avenue, Cushing. A man said someone threw a Dr. Pepper can filled with urine at him, striking him just above the right eye. The can cut the man and he was taken to the hospital.

JAIL POPULATION

On Sunday morning, 212 inmates were housed in the Nacogdoches County jail. According to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the jail's maximum population is 292.
