Today is election day for some cities and school districts in Nacogdoches County.
City of Nacogdoches
Voting will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at TJR elementary school.
Two city commissioner positions are up for election in the city of Nacogdoches. Incumbent Billy Huddleston Jr. faces challenger David Norton in a race for the southwest ward position. Roy Boldon, William Sanders Jr. and Tom Lucas are vying for the southeast ward position, currently held by Travis Morris, who is not seeking re-election. In order to vote, citizens must be residents of the ward their candidate represents. Ward designations are printed on voter registration cards.
City of Garrison
Two seats on the city council will be filled by today's voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at city hall. Three candidates — Bobby Dale Cranford, Dian Mosby and Linda Starr — are running for the positions.
City of Chireno
Voting to elect three city council members in Chireno will be at city hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Four candidates — James Orland Strickland, Kenneth Earl Murray, James Ricky Holloway and Robert Glenn Davis — are running for the positions.
Garrison ISD
Voting will be at city hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Three at-large positions are up for election, and eight people have filed to run in that race, including one write-in candidate. Chris Clark, Shane Holeman, Allen Russell, Andy Gresham, Billy Cooper, Sam Stanaland and Randy Crawford have all filed to run in the election, and Russell O'Dell has filed to run as a write-in candidate.
Voters will also decide whether to approve a $5 million bond program.
Cushing ISD
Voting will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the district's board room.
Seven people have filed to fill three trustee positions on the Cushing ISD school board. Lynda Langham, Brett Tucker and John Barron have filed for re-election, while Stanley Wade, Brett Reeves, Bobby Brashears and Shannon Crisp have filed as challengers.
