Information regarding the boil-water notice by the D&M Water Supply Corporation in Douglass effective Thursday, Aug. 27, and published Friday, Aug. 28, in The Daily Sentinel has been clarified by the water corporation. Customers affected by the notice include those who have experienced water loss in the Douglass area, along state Hwy. 21 approximately two miles east and west of Douglass and along FM 225 approximately 2 miles north and south of Douglass.
Due to a drop in pressure which occurred in the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, D&M Water customers may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source. When it is no longer necessary to boil water, system officials will post notification.
