Cushing resident appearing on game show today

Cushing resident Brantley DeBose will test his powers of persuasion today as he takes on Emmy Award-winner Wayne Brady in the TV game show "Let's Make a Deal," which airs at 2 p.m. on KYTX.

"Let's Make a Deal" is the popular game show from the 1960s and 1970s where audience members dressed in outlandish costumes to win cash and prizes by making deals with the host. Earlier this month, a revival of the original show appeared in the CBS slot previously occupied by the daytime soap opera "Guiding Light."

DeBose, a student at Stephen F. Austin State University, will be one of many contestants who must weigh the possibility of Brady's offer being for a valuable prize or an undesirable item, referred to as a "zonk."

Brady may be best known for his role on the improvisational comedy show, "Whose Line is it Anyway?" or as the host of FOX's "Don't Forget the Lyrics."

The original "Let's Make a Deal" was hosted by Monty Hall from 1963 to 1977, and while later versions have been aired over the years, many best remember the game show for the years when Hall was the host. He now serves as a creative consultant for the new version, which debuted earlier this month.

Residents who may be planning a trip to Las Vegas and who would like to attend a taping of the show, can obtain free tickets at www.cbs.com/daytime/lets_make_a_deal. One out of every 18 audience members will be a contestant on the show. Full episodes of the show can also be seen on cbs.com.
