Following heavy rainfall, wind and a possible tornado near Woden that the National Weather Service in Shreveport was tracking Thursday night, several county roads and local schools have closed today.
Classes at Chireno and Woden ISD have been canceled and FM 226, south of CR 552, CR 228, CR 256, CR 271, CR 274, CR 302, CR 411, CR 525 and CR 560 are closed.
Chireno Superintendent Roger Dees said this morning there were several roads still washed out, fallen trees in the road and standing water that was too much for buses to get to that contributed to the decision to cancel school for the day. He said the school is currently without water, and if they do not get it by noon, they will have to cancel their fall carnival that was scheduled for tonight.
There are also several roads that have high water that should be driven on with caution, including CR 179, CR 425, CR 292, CR 228, CR 392, CR 289, CR 280, CR 814, CR 182, CR 831, CR 817, CR 420, CR 765, CR 220, CR 555, CR 338, CR 442, CR 460, CR 421, CR 538.
