Saturday, October 31, 2009

A 66-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Tuesday night fatal shooting of a Shelby County man, according to Center police.

Clinton Earl Gardner, 66, has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of Cedric Windell Osby, 50, whom police found shot multiple times Tuesday at a residence on Brooks Street in east Center, according to police.

Police said Osby was unresponsive, but he was transported to Shelby County Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Center Police Detective Joey Haley is the investigating officer, but was out of the office Friday. A spokeswoman for the police department said, "as of this moment, there doesn't seem to be an apparent motive for the shooting."

Osby is still being held in the Shelby County jail on a $100,000 bond.
