Build safer roads
It's time for the Texas Department of Transportation to get the message. Go back to building roads that are safe and have a life span of more than a few months. The roads that have been constructed in Texas in recent years are without question the most pathetic excuse for a highway system ever. They are unsafe, crumbling, noisy, rough, damaging to vehicles and have to be extremely costly as continual maintenance is required. For example, consider what is happening between Nacogdoches and Timpson on U.S. Hwy 59 North. The same problems can be observed on University Drive and all other roads and highways where the same surface materials and methods are being used. Texans used to be proud of their road system. Not anymore. Others who expect Texas to do better are encouraged to contact TxDot with their opinions.

Fix U.S. Hwy. 59 north
Have you noticed the Texas Department of Transportation signs on U.S. Hwy 59 north? It seems they have determined that this highway is unsafe between Nacogdoches and Garrison when wet. Gee, I wonder why! When our tax dollars are used to re-top a highway by an incompetent construction company that TxDOT hired, then you see the results. Since U.S. Hwy. 59 north was covered with gravel, it has been a total mess. I know that there was at least 86 claims turned in to them by motorists for cracked or broken windshields and nothing was done for any of them. Now, look at the highway; it is a total stretch of unsafe roadway. This is proved by TxDOT putting out warning signs to slow down on wet pavement, because there is no pavement there. This is another bad case of our tax dollars being mishandled. TxDOT needs to fix the highway and bill it back to the construction company that messed it up in the first place.
