The spring fishing season is going full tilt and the East Texas Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Assocation (CCA) is throwing a party to celebrate. It will have to be a biggie to top last year's banquet/fundraiser held at the The Vineyard.
The East Texas Chapter of CCA put together the highest gross/net profit margin of any Texas chapter in 2007 — a remarkable accomplishment considering it was the chapter's inaugural event.
"We were tickled to death with the turnout our first year," said Frank Still, ET chapter of CCA banquet chairman. "We had no idea what to expect and we were blown away when more than 200 people showed up. We decided to change locations this year, just in case this one is bigger."
The upcoming fundraiser is scheduled for April 25 at the National Guard Armory in Nacogdoches. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
Still said there will be live and silent auctions, bucket raffles and games that will award fishing trips, hunting trips, art prints, fishing tackle, clothing and other fishing-related gear.
Some of the top trips on the list include a deep sea outing for six people to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a light tackle/fly fishing expedition for two to Florida's 10,000 Islands, a dove hunt for 10 people to El Campo, Tx., and a 4 day, 3 night trip to Bahamas for four people.
Tickets cost $35 for singles (includes a $10 Academy gift card), $60 for couples, $20 per child under 17, and $350 for corporate tables for 8 people. Includes a barbecue dinner and beverages provided by R&K Distributing.
