CUSHING — Javonte Jones put on a show in Cushing Friday, scoring five touchdowns — two on the ground and three in the air — to help Alto defeat the Bearkats 40-0.

The talented quarterback had 132 yards on 14 carries and completed eight passes for 101 yards.

Alto (8-1, 5-0) held Cushing to a total of just 124 yards.

The Yellowjackets scored 26 points in the first half, thanks in large part to Josh Randolph, who caught two touchdown passes for a total of 45 yards. Austin Peacock also chipped in an 18-yard touchdown catch to give the visiting team an early nod.

Dylan Barton led Cushing (1-7. 0-4) with 34 yards on 14 carries. Ray Jackson completed five passes for 60 yards and Kelon Fitzgearld had three receptions for 23 yards.

D'Marcus Tyler capped off scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run.

Alto hosts Cayuga at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Cushing will travel to Grapeland to take on the Sandies at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

TIMPSON — Joaquin built off of a 30-point first half to defeat Timpson 60-0 Friday.

The Rams (6-2, 3-1) used a physical offensive line up front to solidify its playoff chances.

The loss is Timpson's sixth in a row.

SHELBYVILLE — San Augustine lost five fumbles to stay winless, falling to Shelbyville 50-36.

Justin Brown had 31 carries for 157 yards and two touchdowns to lead Shelbyville to a 2-6 overall record and 1-3 in District 22-2A.

The Dragons scored 22 first half points and rushed for a total of 326 yards.

On paper, San Augustine had more yardage than the home team, but a scoreless first quarter kept the Wolves out of the game early.

Shelbyville scored 16 first quarter points and never looked back.

Kadafy Davis had nine carries for 85 yards and three touchdowns. Jeremy Bluford had 5 carries for 61 yards and Camato Edwards had six carries for 70 yards.

The Wolves will host Kirbyville at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
