Center lights up Huntington

Center 54, Huntington 0 — Center built a 20-0 lead before it ran its second offensive play Friday night on its way to earning a spot in the Class 3A playoffs with a 54-0 thrashing of Huntington at Roughrider Stadium.

The Roughriders ran a kickoff and a punt back for a score in the opening half and turned a Red Devil turnover into a 4-yard drive, as they built a 27-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and a commanding 41-0 advantage at the half.

Center piled up 207 yards in the first half and finished with 347 yards, while limiting Huntington to just 27 yards during the first two quarters and 42 for the game.

Seven different Center players reached the end zone during the game. The first was J'Von Jones, who took the opening kickoff and returned it 76 yards for the score. The point after by Damian Bolton was wide right, but Center led 6-0 with only 11 seconds gone.

Center added a touchdown by Kevinski Pitts and a pair by Tre Sudds to take the commanding lead at the half.

Jacovian Johnson scored on a 6-yard run in the third quarter and Se'Ryan Netherly had a 38-yard score in the fourth to close the scoring.

Short led Center with 73 yards on the ground, while Tre Sudds added 53 yards. Netherly piled up 52 yards, Johnny Sudds added 45 yards, Ty Hubbard secured 33 yards and Ryan Goodwin ran for 27.

Short was a perfect 5-of-5 throwing the football for 32 yards. Goodwin pulled in two for 15.

Tenaha 39, Mount Enterprise 0 — Tenaha stayed undefeated in District 19-A by defeating a tough Mount Enterprise squad 39-0.

The Tigers (10-0, 6-0) scored 24 first half points and never looked back. Kobi Stedman was almost perfect in the air, completing 11 of his 13 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns.

Victor Johnson caught one of the touchdown passes for 17 yards and Porter Gibson punched in a score with a 24-yard touchdown catch from the talented quarterback.

Tenaha's defense held the Wildcats to zeropassing yards. Mount Enterprise cashed in 174 rushing yards, but never could cross the end zone. Fumbles hurt the Wildcats throughout the game. Tenaha's defense forced seven fumbles — three lost.

Tenaha has a bye next week.

Grapeland 39, Cushing 0 — Grapeland jumped on Cushing early and went on to a 39-0 win over the Bearkats Friday.

Cushing (1-8, 1-4) managed 164 yards of total offense.

Kelon Fitzgearld led the Bearkats with 45 yards on five carries. James Lilly completed three passes for 45 yards.

Cushing will host Carlisle at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Kirbyville 46, San Augustine 0 — Delente Shankle had 117 yards on just eight carries and scored four touchdowns to lead Kirbyville to a 46-0 win over San Augustine Friday.

The Wolves (0-9, 0-4) managed just 39 total yards on offense. Sophomore Kadafy Davis racked up 28 of the yards on 13 carries.

Kirbyville led 31-0 at halftime and had 317 total yards on offense — 190 on the ground and 127 in the air.

San Augustine will travel to Woodville to play the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
