Friday, October 30, 2009

WHITEHOUSE — Hunter Taylor threw five touchdown passes to lead Whitehouse to a 42-14 rout over Nacogdoches in District 14-4A football action Friday night at Dragon Stadium.

The loss officially eliminated the Dragons (3-6, 0-4) from playoff contention, and it gave the Wildcats (2-7, 2-2) a pretty good shot of advancing to the postseason.

Taylor was 19-of-29 for 360 yards. Junior Trey Metoyer hauled in six of those passes for 167 yards and three scores.

Nacogdoches had 245 total yards and no turnovers, but they allowed Whitehouse to gain 566 yards of offense.

The Wildcats rushed for 206 yards, led by 71 yards on six carries by Chad Lewis. Quincy Aldridge rushed for 51 yards on two carries, including a 22-yarder for the Wildcats' final score. Aldridge also made several tackles on defense, including a few highlight-reel hits.

Scoring was no problem for Whitehouse as Taylor found Logan Newton for a 13-yard score, followed by a 17-yard strike to Metoyer to give the Wildcats a 14-0 lead less than 4 minutes into the contest.

Taylor found Metoyer for a 5-yard score to make it 21-0 early in the second quarter, but Nacogdoches responded on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Courtney patton to Arsenio Hall to make it 21-7.

Patton was 8-of-19 for 99 yards, and he ran for 17 yards.

Whitehouse made it 28-7 with 20 seconds left in the first half on a 35-yard pass from Taylor to Metoyer.

Whitehouse closed out its scoring in the first six minutes of the third quarter, with a 20-yard strike from Taylor to Skip Caldwell and the run by Aldridge.

The Dragons' final score came with 19 seconds left in the game on a 23-yard pass from Patton to D'Aundre Garrett. Garrett led the Dragons with 61 yards rushing on eight carries.

Whitehouse had 22 first downs to 13 by Nacogdoches. The Dragons were forced to punt seven times.

Whitehouse fumbled five times, but only one was recovered by the Dragons. Cameron Sterns recovered it for the Dragons.

Nacogdoches had only three penalties, but two came after the 35-yard pass from Taylor to Metoyer, both personal fouls that allowed Whitehouse to kick-off from the Nacogdoches' 30-yard line.

Nacogdoches will close out the season next Friday when it hosts Kilgore. Whitehouse will finish the regular season at Henderson
