Police standoff, Oct. 22, 2019.

Nacogdoches police armed with less-lethal and traditional weapons stand at the edge of the apartment building where a 17-year-old was barricaded in an apartment Tuesday afternoon. One of two women held in the apartment managed to leave and call police from nearby, prompting the standoff, which lasted for about an hour.

Nacogdoches police took a 17-year-old into custody Tuesday afternoon following a roughly hour long stand off at a local apartment complex.

The teenager, whose name was not being released Tuesday, surrendered and was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m., according to the department.

Officers were dispatched to the Commonwealth Apartments in the 5300 block of Northway Drive around 2:40 p.m. in response to a person holding another individual against her will, possibly with a knife.

The incident prompted several apartments to be evacuated and delayed school-bus drop offs at the apartment complex.

More information will be available in tomorrow's edition of the Daily Sentinel.
