New phrases seemed to have popped up recently. Some of those phrases are social justice, the new normal and white privilege. I would like to express my opinion on each one.

First, social justice is a concept of fair and just relations between the individual and society, as measured by the distribution of wealth, opportunities for personal activity, and social privileges. Now who and how will the distribution of wealth be decided? I believe we are starting to see it happen as in the aid bills for us the American people. For sure I do not want these aid bills to be distributing the wealth of this nation. Just a review of their latest aid bill is full of distribution that will never help those in need during our present crises.

Second is the term “the new normal.” This is a term in business and economics that refers to financial conditions following the financial crisis of 2007-2012. The term has since been used in a variety of other contexts to imply that something which was previously abnormal has become commonplace. I know that we have to adjust to the changing conditions of everyday life. Some oppose change and some as I welcome each and every change that comes my way. But to call it a new normal is attempting to have us to accept what is contrary to the American way of life.

My last phrase is what is referred to as “white privilege.” This is the societal privilege that benefits white people over non-white people in some societies, particularly if they are otherwise under the same social, political, or economic circumstances. Let me tell you when you compete in a world of all white people you had better prepare yourself with a good education, by taking advantage of training opportunities and always be a stand out in your course of work. My employment opportunities came, not because the color of my skin, but because I was the best qualified.

These phrases have a way of getting under my skin, but I am still proud to be an America citizen.
