Six more cases of the coronavirus among residents were added to Nacogdoches County’s total on Wednesday as the estimated number of active cases stood at 93, down slightly from 110 a week prior.

Now in the second week of school with just over half of students attending in-person classes, Nacogdoches ISD on Wednesday reported three high school students — two of whom had not been on campus and one who was last on campus Aug. 26 — had tested positive. The district updates this information daily under the link titled “COVID-19 information” on the website, NacISD.org

SFA reported 51 active cases among students and staff, with 25 of those believed to have been present on campus while contagious. The university also has set aside 200 spaces for on-campus students who need to be isolated; nine of those are currently in use.  SFA lists positive cases under the green “Open SFA” tab located at the university’s website, sfasu.edu.

Countywide, 22 COVID-19 patients were being treated at local hospitals, with six of those in intensive care, according to the SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council.

The local COVID-19 Call Center remains open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at 936-468-4787.
