Nacogdoches authorities are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of whomever was responsible for vandalizing a county church earlier this month.

Between noon on May 31 and 1 p.m. on June 1, someone spray painted graffiti, including profanity, on Shady Grove Baptist Church’s building and signage.

Shady Grove Baptist Church is on FM 2112, about 10 miles northeast of Nacogdoches.

A tip that leads to an arrest in the case could merit a $1,000 reward from Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the organization’s website, ncstips.com, or by calling 936-560-4636.

In a June 1 post on Facebook, the church offered its appreciation to volunteers who cleaned up the graffiti and for the community support it had received as a result of the vandalism.

“We ask that you take a moment and pray for that lost soul,” the post reads. “Pray for the unrest in our country, pray for our leaders and those on the frontlines trying to keep peace.”
