The Chireno FFA comes from a proud heritage, dating back to the late ‘60s when Warner Wilson became its adviser to today, under the leadership of Sam Thomas.

During his time, many students have benefited from a vibrant FFA program. The Chireno FFA 2018 banquet was May 16; students and FFA members were recognized for their achievements.

Supervised Agricultural Experience Program Awards were presented to Robyn Allen, market goats, market rabbits, market hogs; Ralin Doyen, market hogs; Kayla Durrett, market rabbits; Wyatt Hagle, market steers, Hallie Martin, market goats; Sam Martin, equine events — team roping (qualified for Texas High School Rodeo Finals); Tyrell Pinner, equine events — calf roping; Kacee Shaw, market hogs; and Andrew Wilson, market rabbits.

Students in Agricultural Mechanics, Design and Construction who participated in the Pineywoods Fair include Courtney Tebo, Heather Whitton, Mitchell Coleman, Remington Spencer, Dylan Martin, Rusty Dowdy, Kyler McCracken, Sam Martin, Austin Magana, Matthew Hancock, Robyn Allen, Judy Clary, Blais Micheli, Tyrell Pinner, Wyatt Hagle, Dusty Zienko, Trenten Skeeters, Lukas Burks, Colton Spencer, Aldo Molina, Braden Williams, Rylee Bennett.

Bennett and Spencer also participated in the Houston Livestock Show and Ag Mechanics Project Show.

Chireno FFA Chapter Awards and Recognition students honored with the Greenhand Degree were Lukas Burks, James Clary, Keith Clary, Natilie Curtis, Carlie Duke, Donavan Johnson, Ira Lamborn, Blais Micheli, Trenten Skeeters and Dusty Zienko. Zienko earned the Star Greenhand Degree of 2018.

Students honored with the Chapter Farmer Degree include Peyton Goodwin, William Horne, Teodoro Moreno, Kacee Shaw Ralin Doyen, Rusty Dowdy, Tyrell Pinner, Andrew Wilson, Summer Murrary and Wyatt Hagle. Hagle was named the Star Agricultural Mechanic, and Sam Martin was named top salesman.

The chapter Outstanding Leadership Award went to Briana Dubois.

The newly elected 2018-19 Chireno FFA officer team includes: Wyatt Hagle, president; Kayla Durrett, vice president; Brayden Williams, secretary; Katelyn Ray, treasurer; Peyton Goodwin, reporter; Heather Whitton, sentinel; and Andrew Wilson, Jr. adviser.
