A Nacogdoches juvenile was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly attacking three other juveniles with a knife, sending two people to the hospital.
Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges said the suspect, whose name was not being released because they were under 18 years old, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and taken to a juvenile detention facility.
Two of the victims in the altercation were still hospitalized from their injuries Saturday afternoon while a third victim suffered “superficial” injuries, Bridges said.
All of the people involved are Nacogdoches Independent School District students, and the sheriff said the altercation may have been related to an issue that began at the school. He said investigators will work with the district’s police department on the case.
Activity logs from the sheriff’s office and police department show law enforcement was dispatched in force to the Nacogdoches County Expo Center early Saturday morning.
The logs show police initially dispatched at 1:35 a.m., with additional units from the Nacogdoches Police Department and county sheriff’s office being called out about 7 minutes later.
Bridges said deputies went to check on a “large gathering” of people at the front of the fair, where they found the first person attacked. They found the second and third victims shortly thereafter.
The suspect was arrested walking at the fair grounds, he said.
