Nacogdoches City Council on Sept. 14 unanimously approved a 2.3-cent tax increase for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.

The approved rate of 61.6 cents per $100 of valuation is unchanged from the current year, but higher than the no-new-revenue rate of 59.3 cents. The no-new-revenue rate is the rate that will bring in the same revenue from the same properties taxed the prior year.
