A Houston man who died while driving near Diboll this week was carrying a payload of drugs when he crashed.
Stevenson McClendon, 63, of Houston, suffered some kind of medical problem while driving south on U.S. 59 near Diboll around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to information released Thursday by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
McClendon’s 2018 Chevy truck veered off the road to the right and hit a guardrail, which caused it to flip.
“Investigators ... located multiple bundles of what is believed to be marijuana weighting approximately 165 lbs,” according to Thursday’s statement.
McClendon was declared dead at the scene by a Polk County justice of the peace.
