State lawmakers expect at least one special session and possibly more while dealing with budget shortfalls, fallout from a winter storm that caused massive power outages and Census data that has been delayed well into fall.

“The lieutenant governor has told us ‘Do not make any summer plans. Expect to be here.’ With a September date on the census numbers we might be here this fall as well,” Sen. Robert Nichols, R-Jacksonville, told the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce last week. “I hope it doesn’t interfere with hunting season, but it might.”
