The Nacogdoches Senior Center drew a step closer to a larger location Tuesday as City Council voted to amend its original plans for a proposed new location on West Austin Street.

The council voted unanimously Tuesday evening for an ordinance amending the plan for two lots at 1601 W. Austin St. near Opal Drive. Undeveloped except for a vacant church on one lot, the property is classified as “planned development,” a category that allows a city to specifically tailor requirements within a zoning district, interim City Planner Keith Kiplinger said.
