The San Augustine County Sheriff's Office and federal officials put an end to a large marijuana growing operation in Angelina National Forest last week.

Authorities seized an estimated 23,000 marijuana plants that were being cultivated on a patch of national forest property off Forest Service Road 303, which is near the Bannister Wildlife Management Area northwest of Jackson Hill Park on Sam Rayburn Reservoir.
