Multicultural Peace March and Rally

Dr. Osaro Airen talks with NHS Student Council Vice-President Trishala Roy and NHS Student Council Advisor Katherine Whitbeck in front of the SFA campus on North Street about the upcoming Multicultural Peace March and Rally on Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. The idea for a positive and peaceful march, Airen said, came about as a way to address the negative and divisive incidents that have occurred throughout the nation this year. The march will travel from the front of the SFA campus to the Nacogdoches County Courthouse.

From the streets of Ferguson to downtown Baltimore, the United States has seen its fair share of racially charged turmoil in the past year. One Nacogdoches man is doing his part to bring people here in East Texas together.

That man — Dr. Osaro Airen — is the director of multicultural affairs at SFA. But he isn’t just working tirelessly on campus, he’s reaching out into the community, as well.
