Workers install components of a new statue titled “The Storytellers” across from the Fredonia Hotel. The faces of the four statues will remain covered until an official unveiling at 9 a.m. July 23.

The Nacogdoches Statue Trail is growing this summer as the Friends of Historic Nacogdoches hosts the unveiling of “The Storytellers.”

Friends of Historic Nacogdoches at 9 a.m. July 23 will unveil the newest statue featuring likenesses of late Nacogdoches residents F.E. “Ab” Abernethy, Charles Bright, Bryan Holt Davis Jr. and Robert W. “Bob” Murphey — all of whom shared a gift for transforming past events into interesting narratives.
