Police Reports

Animal cruelty, 1900 block of CR 711. A caller reported he saw “a female dumping puppies on the side of the road.” Deputies were able to locate suspects and the case is under investigation.

Animal problem, FM 95 S. A woman called deputies to complain about a litter of puppies “dumped out near a bridge located off FM 95 South in Chireno.”

Suspicious circumstances, 300 block of CR 612. A person called the sheriff’s office about a suspicious call from an unknown number which the caller reportedly traced “on the internet to a local “drug dealer.”” The caller was told to block the number.

Fire assist, 200 block of CR 806. Deputies and volunteer fire fighters were dispatched to a home where a stove wouldn’t turn off. Firefighters cut power to the stove.

Agency assist, 18000 block of US 259. Deputies provided traffic control for state troopers investigating a major crash.

Controlled substance, 2300 block of Banita St. A driver pulled over for a traffic violation was in possession of drugs and was arrested. A passenger had outstanding warrants and was also arrested.

Controlled substance, 2600 block of North St. A driver pulled over by police was intoxicated and had drugs on them. A passenger was also in possession of drugs. Both were arrested.

Family violence, 1600 block of Douglass Rd. Officers took a report about an assault.

Intoxicated driver, 4800 block of North St. A driver involved in a crash at a local grocery store was intoxicated, and was arrested.

Unauthorized use of vehicle, 300 block of CR 210. A woman said an unknown person stole her husband’s vehicle.

Suspicious person/circumstance, 16000 block of US 259. Deputies were sent to investigate a call about a black case left by the wood line near a woman’s house. “Deputies contacted the caller and a male subject who was found to be the owner of the case. The owner advised that he had to walk several miles due to his vehicle breaking down and he left the case to come back and get it.”

Controlled substance, 1500 Ritchie St. A driver stopped for a traffic violation was found to be in possession of an illegal substance. “He was issued a summons, multiple citations and released.”

Controlled substance, 1200 Dolph St. A driver stopped for going faster than the posted speed limit was found to have an active warrant out of Louisiana “and was further found to be in possession of marijuana.”

Suspicious person, 200 block of CR 221. A suspicious person reported in the area could not be located by deputies.

Harassment, 300 block of CR 505. A woman who said she was receiving “numerous calls about vehicle warranty” was advised to block the number.

Arrests included: Joanne Denise Capps, 35, of Carthage, driving while intoxicated and possession of a dangerous drug; Christopher Daniel Law, 42, of Lufkin, driving while license invalid with a previous conviction without financial responsibility; Edward Alan Martinez, 18, driving while intoxicated; Andrew Reed Rodgers, 32, public intoxicated; Antonio Dewayne Stearns, 30, two counts of possession of a controlled substance; Henry Dylan Tracey, 26, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a marijuana; Jordan Thomas Waldon, 24, theft of property; Joey Jay-Lee Addison, 23, of Lufkin, DWI; Gloria Alvarez, 40, bail jumping and failure to appear; Keldron De-Rhon Beard, 21, assault family member; Ricky Gene Cogswell, 61, unauthorized use of vehicle; Willie Cornelius Gray, 30, warrant; Cody Lee Paul, 28, DWI-third or more; and Damarcus Dalshun Taylor, 34, delivery of controlled substance, possession of marijuana.

As of noon Friday, there were 248 inmates at the Nacogdoches County jail. As of 1 p.m. Saturday, there were 245. According to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the maximum population is 292

Dispatched and canceled to CL Simon Street and Northway Drive.
