Rosa Jane Washington
Feb. 8, 2021
Rosa Jane Washington, 82, of Nacogdoches, Texas passed on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on, May 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Luther Gladney Sr. and Laura Fluellen.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a homemaker and a fierce protector of her family. She graduated high school from Story High in Palestine Texas. She was employed at Lufkin State school for more than 38 years.
Rosa was a woman of great character and loved the company of others. She loved her sons and what they helped bring into the world. Assisting in any way to protect what she considered hers. She was a western-watching, gun-toting, God-fearing woman and if she told you to do something, her words were important enough that if you didn’t listen it was at your own peril. She was no nonsense, straight to the point, truly beautiful in her spirit, and will be truly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Son” Washington; her son, Rodney Dolphus Sr.; and her siblings, Charlsie Gladney, Dorothy Robertson, Minnie Smith, Dora Abrahams, RT D Gladney, Billy Gladney, Square Smith, and Helen Jones.
She is survived by her siblings Luther Gladney Jr, Martha Smith, Elsie Smith; her sons, Isaiah Dolphus Jr. and Johnathan Dolphus; her grandchildren, Almon Forney, Shawanda Dolphus, Rodney Dolphus, Taneia Cruz, Ticole Dolphus, Tyra Dolphus, and Brianna Dolphus; her great-grandchildren, 15 and counting, Great-Great Grandchildren, 5, and counting and a host of other loving family and friends. Special mention of Niece Caroline Pansy and Nephew William Gladney.
