Mr. Stanley passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 in Nacogdoches. He was born on January 13, 1952 in Center, Texas.

Tommy was born in Center, Texas and later moved to Nacogdoches at the age of 13. He met the love of his life, Joyce Marie Sowell in December of 1968 and the two later married on May 26, 1969.

Tommy worked as a street superintendent for the City of Nacogdoches until his retirement in 2009 after 38 years of service.

Tommy was a well-loved man that liked hanging out with family and friends. He never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. He also had a passion for hosting many BBQ’s for his family and close friends. He would never let anyone go hungry.

He enjoyed playing guitar and singing into the early morning hours with his sons and close buddies, Larry, Bobby and Matt. He was a modern-day MacGyver who could fix anything he laid his hands on. He also loved building things for his grandchildren. It could be anything from a livable doll house, to a train made from a riding lawnmower and barrels for cars. Tommy had many great qualities, with his best one being his love for family and friends. He also had a love for all his pets; especially his baby girl “Precious”. He will surely be missed by all.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Stanley; sons, Tommy Stanley, Jr. and wife, Diane, James Stanley and wife, Peggy and Johnny Stanley; grandchildren, Brittany Green and husband, Tyler, Brittney Stanley, Wesley Stanley, Jerrick Hargrove and Chloe Stanley; great grandchildren, Kenlei, Peyton, Paisley, Kannon and Ryliegh; brother, Truman Stanley; and sisters, Lavada Fenton and husband, Gary and Earline West.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Stanley and Ollie Mae Whittington; step-father, James Whittington; and brothers-in-law, Gerald West and Lester Butler.

Pallbearers will be William West, Larry Moore, Johnny Haessly, Michael Adams, Dody Howard, and Levi Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Killingsworth, Josh Holliman, T.J. Holliman, Wayne Jernigan, Mike Beckler, Bobby King, Matt Broaddus, Sandy Sanders and Kelvin Green.
