Just when we thought traffic might thin out with the departure of many Stephen F. Austin State University students, the Texas Department of Transportation will again offer us a masterclass in patience and frustration.

Beginning Monday, TxDOT will close — weather permitting — the intersection of North Street and Stallings Drive for a resurfacing project expected to only last about two days. But with rain, rain and more rain in the forecast, those two days could stretch into a week. Maybe more.
