Somehow, the Democrat-controlled House managed to take enough time away from their impeachment obsession to pass the Equality Act. This act would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other civil rights laws to include sexual orientation and gender identity as federally protected characteristics.
I believe that it raises serious concerns for women’s sports and religious communities.
Requiring biological females to face competition from biological males would mean the end of both women’s sports and Title IX in any meaningful sense.
Democrats are trampling the rights of 50% of the population to pander to 0.3% of the population that suffers gender identity issues.
I sympathize with the individual girls who have trained for years and suddenly find that they have no chance at winning in their sport of choice. I have no sympathy for the radical feminists who are strangely silent about this draconian move against biological women. It makes one wonder if these feminists actually care about women’s equality or is the overall progressive agenda the dominant motive?
This act is a direct assault on Christianity and other people of faith. The expanded definition of public accommodation will almost certainly include Christian places of worship and Christian institutions.
Explicitly Christian institutions will be forced to perform acts they believe are sinful or shut their doors. Christian schools will be forced to offer bathrooms of choice where everyone gets to decide his/her preferred sex. Christian schools will be forced to teach and accept dozens of gender identifications in their classrooms.
If you think religious people who have no moral objections will be able to opt out, think again. The bill is written to ensure that moral objection is not an option. The act states “The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 … shall not provide a claim concerning or a defense to claim under, a covered title, or provide a basis for challenging the application of enforcement of a covered title.”
Do you rank-and-file Democrats go along with this? I would like to hear your justification for this tyranny, which I believe is in direct violation of the First Amendment.
