When looking back on 2020, we are proud of Nacogdoches. The year could have been filled with chaos — to an extent it was — but thanks to an extraordinary spirit of cooperation we’ve made it through.
That love of neighbor was led in part by several relative newcomers to our community whom we cannot thank enough. This was the type of year where a single shakeup in top leadership could have been disastrous. Our community did it twice, and both Nacogdoches City Manager Mario Canizares and Nacogdoches ISD superintendent Gabriel Trujillo handled their transitions with grace.
